We caught up with Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick last week during the TCAs in LA. He divulged a bit about the show’s return to the CW with new episodes this year — and things kick off tonight when viewers find out what happened following his character Chuck Bass’s car crash at the end of 2011. Ed also talked about life shooting in NYC, his style, and the band he loves most right now. He’s got high hopes for his J. Edgar costar Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscars chances, and is looking forward to making a Romeo and Juliet movie with Haillee Steinfeld later this Winter. There was a lot to catch up on with Ed — check out what he told us!

  1. I watched this series and was shocked by the constant normalized sexism in gossip girl.
Chuck Bass is a well known rapist. But hey, everybody kind of shrugs it off, accepts it, fall in love with him and simply drop it as a minor thing while very futile things or hjonest human mistakes are unforgivable in the script. And all this time I''m like how is it that nobody has an issue with that? Am I the only one? What the fuck is wrong with this world? Then I see this question in the interview and I thought: well, maybe the actor will mention how he would never sexually abuse a woman in any way but- surprise, I guees being a typical proud macho chasing a girl for a long time stands out more than raping one.

  2. I'm British but hearing Chuck (sorry, Ed) speak in his regular voice is STILL SO WEIRD!!!!! I can't put the voice and face together. Haven't watched Gossip Girl for years but I'm so so used to the American accent that its just SO WEIRD!!!! Argghh my feels

  3. i think at some point she was sugaring him too! i mean who wouldn't! This wouldn't be the first time anyone seeing such comments. And….his accent! dripping hot! I've lost count of how many exclamations I've used for one person!
