Taylor Swift’s groping trial reaches a verdict–check out Taylor’s statement after the court awarded her the symbolic $1 she sued for.
Taylor has hoped her trial would encourage other sexual assault victims to speak out, and now she’s planning on putting her money where her mouth is.

After four hours of deliberation, the jury unanimously decided that Colorado-based DJ David Mueller did sexually assault and batter her during a meet and greet in 2013. Or, to put it as bluntly as Taylor did on the stand, he DID grab her ass cheek while taking a photo with her without her consent.

Taylor reportedly smiled when the verdict was read, and her lawyer thanked the judge and jury for the decision, saying QUOTE, “By returning a verdict on Ms. Swift’s counterclaim for a single symbolic dollar, the value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation…You will tell every woman…that no means no”.

Taylor immediately released a statement following the victorious verdict, noting that she hopes to help other sexual assault victims use their voice. The statement read in part QUOTE, “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

No doubt Taylor is happy to put this case behind her and move on with her life, but we’re so thankful that she took the stand and allowed herself to be an example to all women that you DO have a voice, and you shouldn’t be afraid to use it.

Alright guys now I wanna know what YOU think of Taylor’s winning verdict, and her promise to donate to organizations that support sexual assault victims. So sound off in the comments below, and after that click here to see why Taylor broke down during the closing arguments of the trial. 1. Wow a single dollar. That'll teach that nasty pervert. She might as well have just asked for it up front. Lawsuits are suppose to make people regret their actions. Is the guy at least getting fined or doing community service for the groping incident?

  2. This is a massive step forward for women AND men all around. Sexual assault is wrong, and for anybody justifying it because 'it was only a grab' or 'she deserves it' are the people making the wrong in the world.

  3. “By returning a verdict on Ms. Swift's counterclaim for a single symbolic dollar, the value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation…You will tell every woman…that no means no”.

  4. I really hope this encourages other victims of sexual assault no matter what size age or gender to speak out and fight back. Ignore the haters, the people who don't believe you, who mock you just keep fighting.

  5. they give girls dress code because it is distracting but yet they never teach boys how to treat women or that rape is not okay (and yess I know that women rape too and yes I know boys have dress code too but that isn't my point)

  6. She doesn't even have an ass its like a straight down road from her back to her legs she so skinny she ain't got no ass so there was nothing to touch that means taylot is Regina George in sheeps clothing

  7. Stop comparing Taylor's case to someone else's. They're not a bigger case. It was just a different situation. BUT they're BOTH sexual assault cases. So stop comparing.
